Congressman Yarmuth's 2011 Congressional Art Competition
Dear Friends,
Each spring, Members of the U.S. House of Representatives host The Congressional Art Competition as a means of recognizing and encouraging the artistic talents of high-school students from across the nation. This year I am honored to display 91 submissions created by high school students from all across Louisville on my website. You can see all the entries here, and use the buttons at the bottom of the page to navigate through all the work.
The top 20 entries will be displayed at the Water Tower Art Gallery from May 17 to May 22. These finalists were chosen by a public vote, and a panel of community judges chose the winning entries.

Congressman Yarmuth and 2011 Competition Winner Savannah Miller
At a reception held on May 17, Assumption’s Savannah Miller was announced as the grand prize winner of the 2011 Third District Congressional Art Competition. Savannah joined dozens of other young artists at a reception at Louisville’s Water Tower Gallery.
Savannah’s piece, “Time Flys,” will be displayed for a full year in the Capitol’s “Artistic Discovery” corridor. Savannah will also receive round trip air fare to visit the exhibit.
Cultivating and supporting creativity in our community is what this competition is all about. The students who participate always display amazing talent that seems to get better each time - and this year is no different. am honored to bring Savannah’s work to Washington where it will represent our community’s artists on Capitol Hill and be viewed by thousands of visitors from around the world.
During the reception, several artists received awards and every participant was recognized for their contributions. The winners are listed below:

Louisville’s vibrant art scene begins with the talented artists who graduate from our schools where the love of art is instilled by friends and faculty. Sincerely,
