Congressman John Yarmuth

Representing the 3rd Congressional District of Kentucky

Community Project Funding Requests

The U.S. House Appropriations Committee has given each Member of Congress authority to nominate up to ten community projects for possible inclusion in the fiscal year 2022 appropriations bills. For-profit entities are not eligible for this funding. Local and State governments and non-profit organizations may recommend a project for Congressman Yarmuth to nominate by filling out the form linked below. Each project request must be for fiscal year 2022 funds only and cannot include a request for multiyear funding. The deadline for submitting requests is Wednesday, April 14, 2021. Unfortunately, no requests can be considered after the deadline.

Please review the important guidelines and eligibility information listed below before submitting a request. You cannot save the form while filling it out, so you will need to have all information available before you start. Community support for any submitted projects is critical for consideration, so you will be able to upload letters of support or similar documentation in .pdf form as part of the form. All projects submitted to Congressman Yarmuth will be posted on our website and will include the following information: the proposed recipient, the address of the recipient, the amount of the request, an explanation of the request, including purpose, and a justification for why it is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds.

Community engagement and support is crucial in determining which projects are worthy of Federal funding. Only projects with demonstrated community support will be considered. This recommendation builds on past Committee reforms, and Members will be required to present to the Committee evidence of community support that were compelling factors in their decision to submit the request. Examples of these include, but are not limited to: Letters of support from elected community leaders (e.g. mayors or other officials); Press articles highlighting the need for the requested Community Project Funding; Support from newspaper editorial boards; Projects listed on State intended use plans, community development plans, or other publicly available planning documents; or Resolutions passed by city councils or boards.

Please note that there will be a separate process for surface transportation projects that are funded by the upcoming surface transportation reauthorization bill.

Below are links to the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittees’ guidance documents for  community projects. Applicants should review these guidance documents to identify the accounts in the appropriations bill for which Members of Congress may nominate community projects.
