Rep. Yarmuth to Host Service Academy Event for Local Students
LOUISVILLE– Congressman John Yarmuth (KY-3) will host Louisville-area middle and high school students on Thursday, April 25 for U.S. Service Academy Information Night, an event designed to help students interested in the military academies understand the nomination and appointment process. The event will be held at Eastern High School in Louisville.
Representatives from the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and U.S. Marine Corps will be in attendance, as well as staff from Yarmuth’s office to assist students with navigating the application process.
Students will also hear from Brigadier General Robert Givens, USAF (Ret.), who will discuss what the nominating board looks for in selecting applicants. Additionally, students who have received appointments have been invited to speak to their experiences as past participants in the application and nomination process.
