Yarmuth Statement on Expansion of Manufacturing at GE's Appliance Park and Addition of 300 New Jobs In Louisville

( Louisville, KY ) Today, GE announced they will invest $194 million and create 300 new jobs at Louisville’s Appliance Park.  The announcement brings to 1,110 the number of new jobs created since June of 2009, when GE Appliance and Lighting President Jim Campbell said, “We appreciate Congressman Yarmuth's work to extend the tax credits, which have helped us increase employment at our Louisville Appliance Park factories … maintaining these benefits will allow us to continue to in-source new products and add even more jobs.”

Congressman John Yarmuth (KY-3) released the following  statement in response to the historic announcement:

“When the private sector can rely on the support of the federal government, jobs and economic growth follow, and that’s exactly what we are seeing today.  This is the third time in the last 18 months that we’ve gotten together at GE to announce new job opportunities for Louisvillians, starting last June with 430 jobs coming back from China thanks to incentives from the Recovery Act.  We knew then that this was just a first step in revitalizing manufacturing in Louisville, and with the number of new jobs coming to GE now surpassing 1,100, we can be certain that our community is on the cusp of an economic resurgence that will benefit our working families for years to come.”
